Description
Transportation in Myanmar is diverse, reflecting its varied geography and infrastructure. Road transport is the most common, with urban areas like Yangon and Mandalay featuring relatively good road conditions, while rural areas often have poorly maintained roads. The country's extensive but aging railway network, dating back to the British colonial period, connects major cities and offers an affordable travel option despite frequent criticisms of its condition. Additionally, air travel is crucial for connecting remote regions, and waterways play a significant role in transporting goods and people, especially in the riverine and coastal areas.
