Description
Toxic beauty standards among teenagers refer to harmful societal expectations about physical appearance that can negatively impact young people's self-esteem and mental health. These standards often promote unrealistic and unattainable ideals of beauty, driven by media, advertising, and social media influencers. As teenagers strive to meet these ideals, they may engage in unhealthy behaviors, such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or the use of cosmetic procedures. The pressure to conform can lead to issues like body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and anxiety. Addressing toxic beauty standards requires promoting diverse and realistic representations of beauty, fostering self-acceptance, and encouraging critical thinking about media influences.
