Description

An orphan is a child who has lost one or both parents and lacks support from a guardian. Orphanages are institutions that provide care and support for these children, offering food, shelter, education, healthcare, and emotional support. While historically common, there has been a shift towards family-based care models such as foster care and adoption. Orphanages still play a role in providing temporary or long-term care for children who cannot be placed with families, focusing on individualized attention and helping children transition to independent living or family-based care when possible.
