Description

Tooth decay, or dental caries, is a common oral health problem caused by the breakdown of tooth enamel due to acids produced by bacteria in the mouth. Poor oral hygiene, a diet high in sugary foods and drinks, and inadequate fluoride exposure contribute to its development. Symptoms include toothache, sensitivity, and visible holes in teeth. If left untreated, tooth decay can lead to severe pain, infection, and tooth loss. Preventive measures include regular brushing and flossing, limiting sugary intake, and routine dental check-ups.
